Field Day

Each year MBJO hosts a volunteer Field-Prep Day to get the fields ready for play. The annual field-prep day takes place at Duniway and Patton Middle Schools. Get started on your volunteer hours at the annual MJBO Field Day!

Maintaining the MJBO fields in tip-top shape brings pride to our youth baseball players. Getting our fields ready begins with the annual field day. Here is the To-Do list for the 2018 Field Day;

-- Parent(s) volunteer to set-up a check-in table and maintain the volunteer logbook for sign-in and sign-out.

-- Pull weeds around backstops

-- Pick up all trash

-- Locate and mark all outfield fence holes

-- Set-up outfield fence(s)

-- Pull all weeds in the Home Plate and Infield areas

-- Roti-Till, Rake, and Roll Infield and Home Plate Areas

The work completed before and after each practice and game is very important. MJBO Fields Maintenance Director Ken Rolfe is asking all coaches and parent volunteers to familiarize themselves with the Field Checklist. The Junior Baseball rulebook states "The home team has the responsibility to maintain the field in a safe playing condition". At each home game parents are needed to prep the field before the game and clean up the field after the game. This involves raking the field, setting up bases, setting up fences, etc. One game (prep and cleanup) fulfills one (1) hour.

About McMinnville Junior Baseball Organization (MJBO)

McMinnville Grizzly Junior Baseball is dedicated to the youth of our community, emphasizing the fundamentals of this country’s favorite pastime, through superior instruction, fair play, and team camaraderie, as well as higher levels of competition. MJBO provides opportunities for 3rd through 8th graders to play on a competitive baseball team. The goal of MJBO is to teach kids to be team players, be good sportsman, play hard and most of all have fun while experiencing the game of baseball in a competitive and positive environment.

McMinnville Grizzlies Junior Baseball is an association of the Westside Youth Baseball Association and Junior Baseball Organization of Oregon. All baseball play follows the National Federation of State High School (NFHS) rules. JBO is aligned with Oregon High Schools and provides a local and varied pool of competition with whom we compete and learn. The game is BASEBALL, pure and simple, built on the rules of Oregon High School Baseball and modified to age-appropriate programs.  Junior Baseball allows the player to learn the way to play REAL BASEBALL at an early age and continue to develop their skills as they get older.
