Please review the coaching qualifications section of the MJBO website for additional information. Due to the total number of head coaching applicants, there is the potential that not all qualified and approved applicants will be formally asked to coach an MJBO team.

All prospective MJBO coaches, including returning coaches, should complete the Prospective Coaching Application form. MJBO requires this form be completed before player tryouts. All prospective coaches may be required to be interviewed. All head coaching selections must be formally reviewed and approved by the MJBO Board.

JBO requires that, prior to participating in any MJBO event, all adults, those persons in any way assisting, volunteering, and in direct contact with the players, including but not limited to coaches, assistant coaches, umpires or similar positions, must pass a comprehensive criminal background screening.

The Board will try to approximate the number of coaches required at each age level and make selections based on experience, past performance, and community input and/or references. At a minimum, a certificate of completion of an approved concussion course must be submitted by each coach with the team application and signed code of conduct before the start of the season.
